On Friday 17th of November, there was a quite a bit of excitement at Clermiston Primary. Safer Internet Day UK (SIDUK) approached us and asked if we would like to be filmed for their 2018 education pack – we jumped at the chance as we use their videos every year. The packs are used all across the UK to teach children about internet safety. In fact, Peter from SID told us that last year over 1 million children watched their videos, which is VERY exciting!!

Peter, Chris and Gareth set up a mini film set in our ICT suite. It looked so different! We started off with a workshop about what kinds of games we play online, who we speak to and how we might react to people saying things to us. Peter showed us pictures from different games and social media, some we use all the time and some we’ve never heard of.

After the workshop, we all helped to make an advert for Safer Internet Day and then Peter chose 6 of us to film mini interviews based on how chatty we had been in the workshop. It must have been a difficult choice, as we all had something to share!

Chris and Gareth will now take the footage and edit it for the education packs that will be put on their website. We have also been invited to present at the SIDUK event at the City Chambers on Friday 8th of December. We can’t wait to see the finished product!
